First settled by migrant farm workers in 1937, this small residential community 16 miles from downtown Phoenix has a friendly atmosphere and continues to embrace family values and Hispanic traditions. El Mirage celebrates its past, its people and most importantly, its transition into the future with annual festivals and events. Many of the residents live in affordable homes in new subdivisions, and enjoy the natural beauty of nearby White Tanks Mountain Regional Park. Founders Day is a big annual celebration in El Mirage, with a parade, fiesta, carnival and live music.
